20w0d.

Baby's size: Small banana. Oddly enough, I ate one of those yesterday and it caused Jellybean to start swimming across my stomach like crazy. Was it the sugar? Or does he just not love bananas? Either way, it was pretty flipping cool.

Next appointment: July 10

Total weight gain: 39.8 lbs. So, yes, I lost .2 lbs. this week. (I'll take it!)

Exercise: I went to yoga on Sunday. It was harder this time! I'm just so swollen.

Sleep: Exclusively on the couch now. Will talk to OB about it on 7/10.

Food cravings: Salty/crunchy things.

Symptoms: I have edema in my stomach. Yes, my stomach. It's so gross. And uncomfortable. My body totally hates being pregnant.

What I'm loving: Jellybean is perfect! I was so terrified that all of the crap I've been dealing with was hurting him in some way, but no. The level 2 u/s on Tuesday revealed a super-active little boy who looks exactly how they want him to look. RELIEF!

What I'm not loving: Just how shitty I feel 90% of the time.

What I'm looking forward to: Mr. Hope and I are going to do our registry this weekend. I've had so much anxiety about it. I don't even know why. I kind of can't wait to get it over with.

Best moment this week: Realizing that I actually HAVE been feeling the baby, but mistaking those feelings for uterine twinges/growing pains.

  1. So glad Jellybean is perfect!! Registries are stressful, although I didn't do one. But trying to figure out what we would need when we really didn't have much of a clue...that is hard!! Honestly though I haven't needed too many things yet. The only thing I wish I had is a carrier for when she is fussy and I can't put her down!

Edema in the stomach? That sounds so horrible!! But you are feeling the baby now, and that is really cool! Just wait until it gets a bit more...um...I'll say noticeable because that sounds nicer than painful! Or I should say forget yoga and start doing kegels before you get those strong kicks to the bladder!!

    1. OMG, *kegels*. I know I should be doing them but I'm so bad at it.

People tell you all the time that babies don't need much. But then you read all these lists that tell you they need all of these things you never even thought of, like white noise machines. It's all very stressful!

    2. I think a lot of it is clever marketing. We haven't needed a white noise machine yet, and I have heard there are apps you can get on your phone that can do the whole white noise thing. But I think it is best for some things to wait and see if you need it rather than buy it straight away. Especially if you are close enough to stores that sell baby stuff and can pop out quick and get something.

What I am using now (if it helps, I guess all bubbies are different): bassinet and bedding, baby bath and things that go with that, disposable diapers (the cloth ones I have would be huge on her) and a change pad (no cover, I use a towel), a bottle for expressed breast milk (cluster feeds kill even with a good latch) and miltons to sterilize, a handful of blankets, and clothes. And I should not have bought newborn clothes because I got sent a shit ton of newborn and preemie stuff!! More clothes than she could ever wear. Oh, and woolly jumpers that I got from the NICU, because it is winter here and central heat doesn't exist. I've used the capsule a couple of times to run errands, but haven't used the stroller yet, and just popped her into her swing for the first time today, but she is still too small for it, according to the instruction thingy. Oh, and we have some books for her, because in the NICU they said reading to her would help her brain develop because of how our voices are when we read.

I looked at the registry lists from AlphaMom, because I loved her pregnancy calendar that much, and her lists are pretty good.

I don't know how to make that an actual link.

Apparently I still need to be doing kegels, despite my lack of vaginal birth or large uterus pressing on the pelvic floor. I guess Bubs did spend enough time kicking my bladder, but I can sneeze now without any danger, so I kind of haven't been doing them. I hope by the time I am an old lady they make cute incontinence panties.
